NATASHA DOWIE
Hi, I'm Natasha. It's fair to say I'm from a football family. My Dad played and managed in non league football, my uncle Iain played for a host of big clubs and represented my grandma's home nation of Northern Ireland and I'm even married to an ex-player, my former teammate Becky ...
But there's more to me than just football.
Playing football for a living was a real honour and a privilege but I'm so passionate about those extra layers that all sportspeople have and I hope I can play some small role in supporting the person behind the athlete ...
More about Natasha
When a young boy or girl is starting out in their football career they will often daydream about the clubs they might play for if everything goes to plan. A glance at Tash's Wikipedia page has a list of teams that might be on those kind of wishlists ... Everton, Liverpool, AC Milan and, of course, England.
That doesn't tell half the story though. Tash started playing women's football, as a teenager, when the explosion of the women's game hadn't yet happened and progress was slow. A dynamic striker she has been equally dynamic in her decision-making as she has used football to give her opportunities to explore the world, playing in the United States, Australia, Sweden, Norway and Italy. There are so many highlights but two WSL titles with Liverpool, including a season as the league's top scorer and winner of the FA Players' Player of the Year, is hard to beat.
Anyone who has seen Tash play will say (to use the cliché) that she's a proper footballer but, more important to us, she is a proper person. She is passionate about welfare off the pitch, learning and growing as a person, and she will be working with us to support WSL Academies and other young sportspeople as well as working with some of our corporate clients.
Tash retired at the end of the 2022/23 season and continues her association with Liverpool FC by working for the club as an Ambassador and also through the club's TV channel LFCtv as well as working with a number of other broadcasters.
If you want to learn more about her football journey you can watch her episode of our Football Journeys podcast below (or listen on any of the main podcast Apps) ...
